Whitsunday Blinds

  • Web Design

Client:

Whitsunday Blinds and Security specialise in designing and installing security screens and doors, vertical drapes, blinds, shutters and awnings. The family owned business is run by Glen Mason, a qualified glazier with over 20 years of experience in installing window furnishings and doors.

The business manufactures all of their products in-house using quality materials and also provides a custom design service for many products including vertical drapes and other window furnishing products.

After a decade of successfully growing their business, Whitsunday Blinds and Security required a clean and fresh website that appealed to their Whitsundays clientele and showcased some of the great projects that they have worked on over the years.

Objectives:

  • Develop a website that appeals to both residential and commercial customers.
  • Create a gallery that showcases their quality products and stunning designs.
  • Emphasize the free measure and quote service and drive traffic to the enquiry form.

Outcomes:

The new Whitsunday Blinds and Security website is very visual, with lots of high-quality images that showcase a range of their different product offerings as well as design capabilities. The images are displayed in a large slider on the home page as well as in an interactive and categorised photo gallery. This enables potential customers to get a feel for what style of blinds, shutters or awnings they might like for their own home, prior to booking in for a free measure and quote.

We also needed to ensure that the website was well-designed and easy to use on mobile platforms, due to increased numbers of website visitors browsing on devices such as smart phones or tablets. The website’s responsive layout ensures that image quality and useability are not compromised on any device as the content automatically resizes to suit the size of the screen that it is being viewed on. This results in an enjoyable user experience for all website visitors.

Townsville Demolition

  • Web Design

Client:

Townsville Demolition is a business operating in the construction and excavation industry. They provide a wide range of services, from asbestos removal and machinery hire, through to house removal and of course, demolition services.

The business was established in 1978 by two mates with a couple of utes and pinch bars, and has since grown to boast an impressive client portfolio including the City Council, QBuild QRail, WAT-PAC and more. Their resources have also grown to include advanced machinery and their services are fully accredited and meet all safety requirements.

After three decades of continual growth and development, Townsville Demolition needed to bring their website and digital presence up to speed with the off-line elements of the business.

Objectives:

  • Provide website visitors with information on all of their services.
  • Catalogue the range of items that they have available for resale at the Townsville Demolition recycling yard.
  • Create a projects portfolio to accurately display the scope of work that Townsville Demolition is capable of.

Outcomes:

A major goal of the updated Townsville Demolition website was to effectively display their wide range of services – as the business has grown, they have added more services to their repertoire that are not easily identifiable from their business name alone. Therefore, we were tasked with informing the user of the additional services such as asbestos removal and machinery hire as soon as they land on the website. We achieved this with the use of custom-designed graphics and a large slider on the home page.

In addition to highlighting the range of services that Townsville Demolition offer, the client also wanted to drive foot traffic to their recycling yard where they resell a lot of used and vintage items. A large banner on the home page and internal website pages links through to a landing page that lists some of the items that visitors are likely to find at the yard, and encourages users to call if they are looking for a specific piece.

A projects portfolio and gallery tie the services pages together and results in website visitors receiving a comprehensive view of exactly how Townsville Demolitions can help them with their next residential, commercial or industrial project.

Client:

Shadeland is a family owned and operated business with origins dating back to 1975; their Townsville-based company is an industry leader in the design and installation of shade solutions including blinds, awnings, outdoor umbrellas, cyclone shutters and shade sails.

Shadeland’s products and solutions are designed specifically for the North Queensland climate, making them more weatherproof and durable then other options available on the market. Objectives:

  • Promote the custom-design process.
  • Emphasize the high quality materials that are used, product warranties and suitability for the North Queensland climate.
  • Present the brand as being industry leaders with a commitment to quality.

Outcomes:

A major goal for the Shadeland website was to increase the quantity and quality of phone calls and enquiries that the business receives. By making resources such as a gallery portfolio, testimonials and FAQs easily available for potential customers to browse, we have ensured that customers who make enquiries are well informed and are ready to start considering designs and pricing.

By providing a clear step-by-step outline of the process that is involved in working with Shadeland, as well as highlighting their free quote service and easy access to a quick contact form, we have ensured that customers feel comfortable with calling or making contact with Shadeland.

Looking To Buy Art

  • SEO & Adwords

  • Web Design

Client:

Looking To Buy Art is an online art gallery with a difference – they provide a platform for independent Australian artists to connect with art collectors and consumers. It is a multi-sided platform that allows the artists to list their works for a monthly subscription fee, as opposed to charging an exorbitant commission fee for each individual piece.

For consumers, the business provides an impressive catalogue of thousands of quality and unique art pieces, all in one location. It is a quick and simple way to browse through the work of hundreds of local artists to find the perfect piece for your collection.

Objectives:

  • Create an online portal that connects Australian artists with global art collectors.
  • Develop a secure e-commerce platform that is capable of handling large transactions.
  • Establish a digital catalogue of products that is searchable via different criteria such as price range, size, medium or artist.

Outcome:

The Looking To Buy Art website is a multi-sided platform that needs to appeal to both parties – the artists and the consumers. We needed to develop a portal that enabled artists to subscribe to different monthly package options and then list their art work on the website. At the same time, there needed to be a very user-friendly way for consumers to browse through the listed artwork and find what they are looking for.

The end result achieved all of this plus more – Blacksheep Creative created an attractive but simple website that drives consumers straight to the catalogue and encourages them to browse. For artists, the subscription process if very quick and simple and comes with the incentive of a free trial.

The platform highlights the hard work of the artists and provides them with a level of freedom that they do not receive on other digital galleries, while the consumers benefit by being provided access to a wider range of products for lower prices.

Home Room

  • Branding

  • Web Design

Client:

Home Room is a one-stop-shop for people building new houses or homeowners looking to renovate. Their product range includes everything from doors and security screens through to blinds, shutters and vinyl flooring. Their impressive showroom based in Mackay displays a huge variety of their available product range and colour options.

When Blacksheep Creative first started working with Home Room, they were originally called ‘Designer Timber Doors’. This brand was confusing to consumers as they clearly offered a much wider product range then just timber doors. It was also shutting out consumers who thought that they only offered high-end products when in fact their product range was so extensive that they were able to cater to just about every budget.

Objectives:

  • Create a new brand for Designer Timber Doors that encompasses their entire product range and appeals to a wider variety of consumers.
  • Develop a brand new website that showcases their full product range and drives foot traffic into their impressive show room.
  • Highlight their free measure & quote and colour consultation services.

Outcomes:

The new Home Room brand and logo is much more effective at informing potential customers about the full product range that the business offers. The imagery, colours and style of the logo are much more inviting to customers from a range of different budgets, not just those looking for high-end or ‘designer’ products.

The new website categorises the available information in a manner that is much easier to follow and makes it easier for users to locate what they are looking for. There are constant calls to action encouraging users to visit the show room or to organise a free measure and quote service, and the responsive design means that the website looks great on both desktop computers and mobile devices.

Home and Renovations Warehouse

  • Web Design

Client:

Home and Renovations Warehouse carries a wide range of products required for home renovations such as windows, doors, bathroom cabinets, fencing and more. In addition to supplying products, they also provide a design and cabinet making service, making them a one-stop-shop for anyone who is considering renovating their home.

The huge range of products and services that the business has on offer can be overwhelming to potential customers and also difficult to organise and navigate through on their existing website. Home and Renovations Warehouse wanted a clean and user-friendly website that displayed the quality and range of their products but ultimately led to the customer visiting their physical location.

Objectives:

  • Find a quick and simple manner to organise all of the different products and services that the business offers.
  • Direct users to the information quickly and simply without overwhelming them with the huge variety of choices.
  • Encourage users to visit the showroom location to view the full range of products and speak with a helpful and qualified team member.

Outcomes:

The development of the new Home and Renovations Warehouse focused heavily on re-organising their products and services in a user-friendly manner. Initial market research indicated that the most logic way to organise the content on the website would be by room – users can click on a ‘Kitchen Renovations’ button and access all of the products and services that they are likely to need.

An interactive floor plan on the home page also assists website visitors with determining whether Home and Renovations Warehouse provide the product or service that they are looking for and directs them to the relevant page with more information.

A gallery as well as hero images on all of the content pages give customers a clear indication of the high quality products and design capabilities of the business, resulting in higher levels of visitors to their physical location.

Hi-Way Units Motel

  • Web Design

Client:

Hi-Way Units Motel is situated in Mackay and offers guests comfortable accommodation and great service in their 2 and 3 bedroom self-contained apartments.  They are a family owned, independent motel that has been well maintained despite being one of the oldest motels found in Mackay.

This business is unique in that their units are all designed specifically for families – they all sleep at least 5 people. They are also exceptionally well maintained and offer a level of comfort that in not usually expected from motels.

Motels are often associated with negative connotations, and Hi-Way Units Motel needed a new website that over-comes the negative associations and shows potential guests that their facilities are modern, clean and family-friendly.

Objectives:

  • Increase online bookings
  • Emphasis the business as being family-friendly
  • Website needs to be easy to browse and book from mobile devices

Outcomes:

Our experience with working with other business in the hospitality industry has taught us that the consumer’s decision-making process is largely based on visual evidence – this means that when developing a new website for Hi-Way Units Motel, we knew that the site would need to be very visual and display lots of high-quality images of their facilities.

We also knew that the website would need to be responsive and mobile friendly because a large percentage of consumers browse potential accommodation options from mobile devices such as tablets and smart phones.

The end product is a user-friend website full of great photos that emphasis the business’s spacious, clean and modern units. We designed the website in a manner that it looks and functions perfectly on mobile devices and every page features a ‘book now’ button to drive users to book online.

Flash Fibres

  • Web Design

Client:

Flash Fibres are an exciting new start-up business that is going to revolutionise the way that homeowners and businesses access the Internet on the Sunshine Coast.

The main problem that Flash Fibres was experiencing was that because they were a new business, going up against big industry players, they needed a strong brand and website that is easy to use and that makes it easy to understand what it is that they do and why their product is superior to existing solutions available on the market.

For Blacksheep Creative, it was a great opportunity to get on board with Flashe Fibres in the early stages of their business; it gave us the opportunity to advise them not only on their digital marketing strategy, but also on other areas of their business such as their pricing models and potential strategies for building their customer base.

Objectives:

  • Build a strong and recognisable brand
  • Promote their service in an easy-to-understand manner
  • Position this innovative new service as a viable option compared to established ISPs.

Outcomes:

We started by looking at Flash Fibre’s competitive advantages and then used these to shape their branding package. Once the logo design was complete, we started work on their website – we needed to find a way to tone down the technical jargon and describe what the business offers in a way that is easy to follow and understand.

We started by highlighting their competitive advantages of low costs and unlimited data and pairing this information with imagery that informs the user that Flash Fibres caters to both commercial and residential clients.

We also added case studies to the website – this is an important element of the website as the brand and product are new and not well-known; reading about how their product improved the lives of others will help with consumer’s decision-making process.

Charlestown Steering

  • Web Design

Client:

Charlestown Steering Service was established over 50 years ago and has built an unbelievably loyal clientele base. They provide a wide range of mechanical services outside of just steering including logbook servicing, diagnostics, brake & clutch servicing, air conditioning and general mechanical repairs.

In 2012 the original business owner Kerry retired and Stuart Hughes took over the business – Stuart had been working with Kerry for over 20 years and kept all of the same staff, affordable prices and dedication to providing quality mechanical services to their faithful customers.

Charlestown Steering Service have a great reputation with everyone in their local area, but in order to grow their existing client base, they needed to push the business online with a strong brand and website.

Objectives:

  • Design a recognisable brand and logo.
  • Develop an attractive website that appeals to both existing customers as well as new customers.
  • Provide the client with a website that is easy for them to maintain themselves, enabling the reduction of website maintenance costs.

Outcomes:

Charlestown Steering Service’s previous online presence was minimal, consisting of a small unbranded website and a few directory listings, so we were starting with a clean slate. The website that Blacksheep Creative developed for the business uses the most up-to-date technology and content management system to ensure that the website operates smoothly on all devices including smart phones, while also being built in a manner that makes it easy for the client to update their content themselves.

The new website includes a new logo that is minimal yet effectively communicates Charlestown Steering Service’s brand identity. The home page features clearly labelled boxes that indicate the wide scope of mechanical services on offer and directs users to additional information.

The end result for Charlestown Steering Service is a professional website that can be easily maintained and kept up to date. It is built on a very versatile platform, ensuring that as new technology and methods of developing websites arise, the site will be able to comply with the new standards with minimal effort or cost.

Capricornia Pool Maintenance

  • Web Design

Client:

Capricornia Pool Maintenance is a local and family owned business providing weekly, fortnightly and monthly pool cleaning services for residential and commercial swimming pools in the Rockhampton and Yeppoon areas. They also provide a range of equipment that is essential for swimming pools such as pumps, filters, cleaners, chlorinators and chemicals.

While the repairs and maintenance arm of the business was going strong and steady, Capricornia Pool Maintenance wanted to increase the number of clients that they had signed up for regular pool maintenance and cleaning services, as these services provide the business with steady and regular cash flow, enabling them to focus on and grow in other areas.

Objectives:

  • Emphasise regular pool maintenance and cleaning services
  • Provide customers with a clear pricing model
  • Sell customers on the energy-saving benefits of upgrading their pumps and equipment

Outcomes:

After conducting market research for the pool maintenance industry, we discovered that when browsing websites for a provider, the number one piece of information that consumers are looking for is price. They favour brands and websites that have a clear price list that is easy to locate. For that reason, we decided to put Capricornia Pool Maintenance’s package pricing on the homepage of the website – as soon as users land on the site, they know whether or not this service is within their budget.

Large banners with calls to action informing customers of the potential to save $700 a year on power bills drive traffic from the homepage onto the equipment pages and a ‘get in touch’ button that is linked to a pop-up contact form makes it quick and simple for users to ask any questions they might have at any time of the day.

Overall, the new Capricornia Pool Maintenance website offers customers an enjoyable user experience while maintaining a clean and professional aesthetic that is in line with the brand personality.
